ABOUT THE PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER

I am a  professional photographer and a technology teacher for the Calgary Board of Education. I grew up in Calgary, Alberta and have visited a number of places in North America.  I still find the Rocky Mountains in Alberta the most beautiful to take pictures. The  most popular courses that I teach in high school are traditional B/W photography and digital photography. 

I have lost valuable time exploring hiking trails that were muddy, hot and very long -- leading to disappointing endings. You will notice on the main page under sites for free photo's it will often show a picture of what you will see after walking or hiking to your destination. During these tribulations I have discovered a number of trails that are relatively short in length but provide  perfect photographic opportunities. As I get older, I will stay overnight with my family at some of the quality hotels in Banff, Canmore or Lake Louise. This way I am fresh and alert in the morning to explore new photographic ideas.

My company, Choice Photography and Graphics, is a small business that specializes in scenery, sports, portrait and animal photography.

You could take this picture if you are willing to hike 20.2 km to Amethyst Lakes jct.  Actually I saved a lot of time buying the  book "Classic Hikes in the Canadian Rockies" by Graeme Poole which tells me exactly how long it takes to go to most mountains or lakes. For the average baby-boomer, a 10 km walk round trip is quite strenuous. A 1.5 km to 3km walk is quite pleasant unless it all uphill.

For the past two years I have spent my time hiking in the Kananaskis looking for mountain shots, river shots, lake shots, flower shots, and animal shots with my 35mm Canon Rebel Camera and my Digital Canon Power Shot A70 Camera. These cameras were both light enough for the family to trek 4 or more kilometers one way.
